Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions has an April 11th professional boxing event scheduled at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Headlining that card is a middleweight bout between Paul Williams vs. Winky Wright. The card will also feature the pro boxing debut of mixed martial arts fighter and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski.
According to Loretta Hunt at Sherdog.com, ESPN.com’s Dan Rafael was the first to report on the proposed bout, which the fighter’s team plans as a precursor to Arlovski’s next MMA bout with Affliction in June or July.
Arlovski’s manager Leo Khorlinsky was quoted as saying, “We’re not switching gears to boxing. MMA is still our priority. Our commitment to Affliction is still a number-one priority and we’re looking forward to fighting on their next event.”
