WEC featherweight contender Urjiah Faber stopped by Pro MMA Radio on Monday night to talk to Larry Pepe about Jens Pulver, Mike Brown, and much much more.

Here are some highlights of their discussion:

Urijah Faber was on a 13 fight win streak before it was snapped by now featherweight champion Mike Brown. He said it really didn’t bother him being the co-main event on the upcoming WEC card because Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone are the championship fight and deserve to be the headliner.

He also said he wasn’t sure exactly how the fight against Jens Pulver was brought up again so quickly because originally he was told he would fight Jose Aldo and then they changed it.

Faber obviously does not have any problem taking on Pulver again and still considers him very dangerous, “Ya know it comes down to the fact Jens is an extremely tough dude. I know I am going to have my hands full, there is always danger with him involved.”

Faber seems to be focused and prepared to get back on the winning side of things, in actuality he doesn’t care who he’s fighting, “I don’t care about anything other than the fact I’m fighting one guy in a cage and one guy is gunna win and I’m not looking to get beat up, so that’s the way I think about it and thats the way I gotta think about it.”

Urijah has never been the type of fighter to complain or make any type of demands. Faber iterated it was a questionable stoppage in the Brown fight in some people’s eyes because it appeared he was still defending himself, but he is not the type of fighter to complain about that stuff because in the end he thinks it makes you look like a baby.

He has alway been thought to have a unique style that fans love to watch and this style has never come into question until his loss to Brown. Faber found this loss a bit humbling, but will not let it change him as a fighter, “I’m gonna go at it the same way, ya know it reminds you that you’re not invincible.”

After his loss to Brown, Faber was not really hurt and was ready to get back in the cage right away. The injuries to Brown made it almost impossible for an automatic rematch unless Faber wanted to wait, “I wanted to fight right away. If I wanted to wait and have an automatic rematch in March I probably could have lobbied for it.”

In no way is Faber overlooking his upcoming fight with Pulver, but he hopes that with a victory he will earn another chance at the title, “I imagine that would be the case. I feel like being the long standing champion and uh ya know putting in my time and being considered the one or two best 145 pounder in the world would earn me that chance. I’m pretty sure that’s what is gonna happen. I just have to not look ahead and beat up Jens first.”
