While Shane Carwin’s future appears secure in the UFC, he does not have a set opponent for his first bout in 2009. According to MMAWeekly’s MMAInsider Blog, Shane Carwin has not signed a bout agreement to face Gabriel “Napao” Gonzaga.

“A source from Carwin’s camp told MMAInsider that Carwin had not received word of the bout, nor had he received any bout agreements for a fight with the top ranked Brazilian fighter.”

It was originally reported by Fiveouncesofpain.com that Carwin and Gonzaga had been set for March at UFC 96 in Ohio. While apparently Carwin did sign an extension with the UFC, no agreement to fight the Team Link fighter was presented or signed.

The good news is that the die hard Gonzaga fans who had been constantly salivating since the Carwin vs. Gonzaga fight was announced can now stop.
