Roger Huerta and the UFC appear to be on good terms yet again. According to MMAweekly.com, “El Matador” signed a new five fight deal with the UFC Monday night and sources close to Huerta today confirmed the news.

Huerta had positioned himself as one of the UFC’s hottest prospects in 2007. Fighting five times last year for the promotion, the Minnesota resident found himself on the cover of Sports Illustrated and went undefeated in the Octagon.

He had his win streak snapped by Kenny Florian at UFC 87 in August, his only appearance in the UFC this year. Prior to UFC 87 Huerta spoke out against the UFC about their business practices in a Fight! magazine article.

He stated in the article that being underpaid for public appearances resulted in his lack of p.r. work for the company in 2008.

The recent signing may be an indicator that Huerta didn’t burn any bridges with Zuffa and will continue to be one of the companies poster boys.

Rumors speculate that Huerta is set to return to action in March.
