With Freddie Roach in his corner, the “Pac-Man” Manny Pacquiao completely embarrassed Oscar De La Hoya in a welterweight bout tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

Round after round, the pride of the Phillipines out-punched and out-moved the much slower De La Hoya. Pacquiao chopped De La Hoya apart with lightning fast combinations and a right hand that found it’s mark all night long at will, nearly swelling shut the right eye of the Golden Boy.

De La Hoya barely survived round seven and it was all he could do to stay standing. After the round, the ref told him if he kept taking shots like that he would have to stop the fight. Oscar’s cornermen implored him to fight back and get out of the way of Pacquiao’s onslaught.

Somehow De La Hoya made it through one more round but at the end of round eight his coach told him, “Oscar he’s too fast, we have to stop this.” Oscar nodded in agreement. It was over.

Pacquaio shut De La Hoya out 8 rounds to nothing with only one judge giving De La Hoya the nod in a single round. One of the rounds was ruled 10-8 round for Pacquiao.

Many boxing experts questioned why Pacquiao took the fight in the first place and gave him little hope. Now those same experts will be questioning if his opponent will ever fight again.
