At the Strikeforce:Destruction card in San Jose, California this past Friday Promma.info learned that former UFC welterweight and Combat Fitness instructor Gil Castillo (8-5) may return to MMA competition for Strikeforce in 2009.

Following his victory over Tony Johnson, Eric Lawson (8-2) spoke to Promma.info about the possibility of Castillo returning to the ring. Lawson, who is a Combat Fitness fighter, also noted that if Castillo were to come back to action, both men may be scheduled to appear on the same card. There was no mention of a possible opponent for Castillo.

The 43 year old Castillo was last scene in action suffering a TKO loss to Jake Ellenberger in the first round at IFC Caged Combat in April of 2006. The Concord, California native has fought notable names as former UFC Welterweight champion Matt Hughes and UFC Middlweight contender Nate Marquardt during his career.
