MMAWeekly.com has reported that Paulo Filho has been released from his contract and will not move into the UFC.

The news comes off the heels of him not making weight for his scheduled WEC Middleweight Title defense at WEC 36 against Chael Sonnen.

Not making weight combined with one of the worst performances in recent memory seemed to be enough to warrant a release from his Zuffa contract.

Last friday Filho’s boing coach Josuel Distak told Tatame.com that Filho and Sonnen agreed to fight again. “We made a deal and he accepted a rematch, and Paulo gave him the belt after the fight. It’s a man deal, and we’ll do this fight again.”

Considering this news, don’t expect to see that fight happen in the Octagon anytime soon.  While no word has come out about Sonnen’s status with the company, he is believed to make the jump to the UFC middleweight division.
