Elite Combat League held their “Brawl for a Cause” at the Spirit Bank Event Center in Bixby, Oklahoma on November 1, 2008. Our good friend and PRO MMA sponsored fighter, Billy “24/7” MacDonald made his pro debut and here’s what he had to say about his fight and the event:

“Hey guys, it’s Billy checking back in a couple days after my much anticipated pro debut. My thanks go out to Elite Combat League, their promoter Mike Lowry, and matchmaker Keith McCann for their hospitality and professionalism. I want to thank my opponent Jacob Noe for taking the fight on short notice.

Elite Combat League put on one heck of a show. While things didn’t quite go the way that I was expecting, I won’t make any excuses. I lost to the better fighter that night. So, to Jacob Noe of Team Vortech in Memphis Tennessee, my hat’s off to you sir.

I would love to give you a full recap of the fight, but I honestly don’t remember a whole bunch of the fight. Here’s the recap as far as I remember….

We came out and touched gloves, I started circling to the right, away from his power hand, I started to throw an outside right leg kick and when I did I dropped my hands enough for him to get a couple punches in on me. (The info on dropping my hands is according to Johnny Bedford who was watching the fight from his locker room’s door.)

Jacob Noe vs. Billy "24/7" MacDonald

From there I was pretty much out on my feet. From there I remember swinging at him, then I don’t remember much else except catching a knee in the face. My pic below shows me against the fence with Noe about to throw one of the knees.

I am still waiting to see the full video on a big screen to see exactly what happened, but until then all I can tell you is that even though I was out on my feet, I kept moving forward trying to execute my gameplan. My cornermen said I bounced back up after the ref stopped the fight. I was stumbling a bit, but I bounced back up. Lol.

I found out afterwards that Mr. Noe is a two time Golden Gloves champion on top of all of his hard training with Team Vortech. So again congrats to Jacob and Team Vortech as well as the rest of the winners.

Congrats to the team from L.A. Boxing in Fort Worth, Texas. Out of their fighters on the card three out of the four fighters that they brought up with them won. Corey Kunkleman, Justin Blevins, and Johnny Bedford all won their fights including the 145lb title for Bedford. Their fourth fighter Daniel Trevino (who’s a wiz on the groud) had his fighter not show up.

Elite Combat League: Brawl for a Cause

Lastly I wanted to send a special thank you out to my cornermen… Billy Watson, Josh Miller, and Dustin Neighbors, to all my friends, new and old who came to support me in Tulsa or called or texted me with encouraging remarks (especially Megan, George, and Goze), my sponsors, ProMMA.info , TAGG Radio , Fight Dentist.com , Buffalo Wild Wings , Stroud’s Fitness , Quixx Clothing, the Fort Worth Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse, Rick at House of Pain Clothing which stepped up huge and took care of not only me, but also all of the other fighters from L.A. Boxing in Fort Worth, and Sponsor-Fighters.com. To the crew at Strikeback.tv who said that I showed a ton of heart in taking the fight to him after getting hit like I did right off the bat, and to Mikey Burnett who stepped up and wrapped my hands after the scheduling of the fights got changed and Rafael Casias from WRECk 1 Fight Management ended up with multiple fighters before me. No worries Rafael, I appreciate you offering to help anyways. And to everyone who reads my posts on this website. Thank you all very much.

I have quite a few product reviews that I am working on right now. So be on the lookout in the next week or two for reviews on Triggonomics clothing, House of Pain Clothing, the new grip-flex shorts from Sprawl which I got in yesterday, and on custom mouthguards by FightDentist.com. ( I really wished I would have had that in my last fight. LOL)”

Until next time…… Billy “24/7” MacDonald

(Editor’s Note: We’re proud of you Billy for who you are and for getting in there. Keep up the hard work. It’s more about the journey than the destination.)
