PRO MMA Product Review – From the Fighter’s Perspective

by: Billy “24/7” MacDonald

I’m going to start with a little background on me. I am the co-owner of WWW.Sponsor-Fighters.com and Reality Entertainment Group based out of Fort Worth, Texas. My professional fight debut will be on November 1st, 2008.

The “24/7” nickname came from a college friend, but it also corresponds with my life in mixed martial arts. As my friends and colleagues would agree, I am pretty much obsessed with the sport. That is why we started the website which offers both marketing and management options and we specialize in finding sponsorships for up and coming fighters (although we do work with some of the bigger names in the sport as well).

I have been fortunate enough to gain many friends and contacts very quickly in this industry mostly due to my friends at TAGG Radio. So to “Gorgeous” George Garcia, Brian “Goze” Garcia, and Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg, thank you for your support, encouragement, and most importantly your friendship. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be able to pursue a career in this sport that I love and would still be an unknown fighter that is struggling to find his way.

Ken Shamrock: Fighters Should Take Notes

By: Kelvin Hunt

When you mention the name Ken Shamrock it is typical for a lot of thoughts to flood your mind all at once.  It is possible one might think of Ken’s two fights in the very first UFC event way back in 1993, or his stint in professional wrestling.  Or you might recall 1994 when he fought twelve times in one year.  It’s possible to conjure up images of the electricity he and Tito Ortiz brought in their first encounter at UFC 40.  However, if you are a fan that is new to the MMA scene, all you probably know is that Ken Shamrock hasn’t won a fight in a very long time.

Quinton Jackson finds a home

by:  Jack Bratcher

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has joined fellow fighters Michael Bisping and Paul Kelly at the Wolfslair fight team according to Fighters Only. Gym owners, Anthony McGann and Lee Gwynne confirmed he has signed a three-year deal with the British team.

McGann aknowledges that Jackson’s former coach, Juanito Ibarra did resign but that they parted on good terms.

It seems Jackson and Bisping have formed a close relationship so that combined with the fact they are called “Wolfslair,” made it an easy choice for the Memphis native known for his wolf-like howls.  He even spoke of it being “destiny.”

It seems when Jackson fights in the U.S. his camp will be split between Big Bear, where they will bring the Wolfslair to him, and England, which is the homebase of the team.  And when he fights in England, his full camp will be there.  His day-to-day training will continue at the Huntington Beach Ultimate Training Center.

PRO MMA Exclusive: Razor Rob McCullough

by:  Jack Bratcher

In February of this year, “Razor” Rob McCullough lost his WEC lightweight title to Jamie Varner in an upset.  The odds were stacked against Varner but he was able to pull out the win and take home the title.   Four months later “Razor Rob” stepped back into the cage and got back on the right track with a win over Kenneth Alexander at WEC 34.

“Razor Rob” wants that title back.  As far as he’s concerned, the loss to Varner was a fluke that never should have happened.  On September 10, Rob will face one of his toughest fights to date and it will be the deciding factor if he gets an immediate title shot or has to climb back up the ladder.  PRO MMA got the opportunity to chat with Rob and he explained just what this fight means to him and what kind of fireworks we can expect to see.

Rob also lets us in on some personal details about himself you may not have known such as who he would most like to fight and what is one of his favorite books.  The answers might surprise you.
